Online resources: Summary: This is the initial report of the Taskforce for Action within Families (the Taskforce), which was established in 2005 to lead cross-sectoral work to prevent family violence. It sets out a programme of action that will provide leadership to promote functional, healthy families free from violence. Chapter 1 sets out the vision of the Taskforce and gives an overview on how this will be achieved. Chapter 2 discusses the leadership of prevention work and how this will be done. Attitude and behaviour change form the topic of chapter 3 and discussion is provided on what actions are needed to accomplish this. Chapter 4 examines the actions that are needed to improve the justice sector's response to family violence in ensuring safety and accountability to those affected. Chapter 5 describes intersectoral initiatives for improving family violence service capacity and capability. The report concludes that in meeting the vision of the Taskforce, long-term commitment is needed from leaders at all levels and from across all communities.
