The wellbeing of whānau and the elimination of family violence / sexual violence will progress with a significant increased focus on prevention. The report includes statements and recommendations on what needs to change to strengthen the health and disability sector’s response to family violence / sexual violence. The overall direction of the report and its recommendations align with the direction of the Health and Disability System Reforms towards services that are designed and delivered in support of equity and in line with our Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations. He Kaupapa Waka has an overarching message of enabling communities to have the power and ability to work with health services in designing, leading and delivering solutions that meet their needs and aspirations and effect change alongside broader social sector responses.
