520 _aEach year, OPA receives more than 1100 calls from people raising concerns about neglect or abuse of people with disability. The callers are service providers, neighbours or family members who are concerned enough to contact the office for advice and, in many cases, expect that OPA or another agency will take action to address the situation. Unfortunately, this is not always possible. This report draws on stories (which have been de-identified) that starkly illustrate the impact of the system failures on adults who are at-risk. It identifies gaps and failures in the current framework and makes seven recommendations to improve Victoria’s safeguarding laws and practices for all at-risk adults. The recommendations aim to ensure that we do not lose sight of any adult in our community who may be at risk of experiencing violence, abuse or neglect. (From the website). Record #7981
