520 _aThe Connections! Hui brought together just over 100 ethnic community organisers and therapists to talk about sexual violence prevention and responses for ethnic communities. It was hosted by the Hon. Jenny Salesa and Shama Hamilton Ethnic Women’s Centre. Participants who attended represented 31 different ethnicities, 7 different religious backgrounds, 4 genders and were from 13 different regional locations in New Zealand. This discussion paper reports on the first session: a general discussion about preventing sexual violence for ethnic communities (see Appendix for questions that were used to prompt group discussion). This session includes discussion about prevention in communities, prevention for revictimisation and prevention of child sexual abuse. Following papers include one that summarises the prevention discussions for groups that shared a similar aspect of diversity - whether by ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality or migration journey (#6452), and two papers that address responses to sexual violence (#6453 and #6454). (From the Introduction). Access the website for the other papers. Record #6451
