Te Ira Tangata is an 8-session sexuality education programme designed for Years 7 and 8 students attending total immersion Kura Kaupapa Māori schools. The 8-session programme draws upon mātauranga Māori understandings of te pūhuruhurutanga and te tuakiri o te tamaiti. The programme was developed in partnership with two Kura Kaupapa Māori without whom this programme would not have been possible. Over an eighteen month period teachers, whānau, and Māori community experts worked alongside Te Whāriki Takapou to design, teach and evaluate the programme named ‘Te Ira Tangata’. The programme is available to download for free through our website. The programme includes electronic links to publicly-available resources that support programme delivery.
