520 _aThe Harmful Digital Communications Act 2015 (HDCA) is a modern enactment for a modern problem. The title of the Act is in some ways self explanatory: the purpose of the HDCA is to “deter, prevent, and mitigate harm caused to individuals by harmful digital communications” and to “provide victims of harmful digital communications with a quick and efficient means of redress”. In order to achieve these ends, the HDCA establishes a comprehensive civil regime to manage complaints regarding harmful digital communications and creates a new offence that criminalises more serious misconduct. Early data suggests that the HDCA may provide a valuable tool for women who have been the target of harmful digital communications. (Author's abstract). Record #5732
