The focus of the study was to assess the current situation of domestic and gender-based violence in Samoa, including the extent to which existing legislations, programmes and services have impacted the problem. It also aimed to provide a preliminary cost benefits analysis of the impacts of domestic violence on health, education, employment and economic development in Samoa. The study used, as a baseline, findings of the 2000 Samoa Family Health and Safety Study (SFHSS, 2006) (#4352), which focused on gender-based violence against women only. The main interest of the current study, however, was on violence affecting a broader group namely women, children, PWDs and the elderly. Record #5617
