520 _aThis research sought to capture the extent to which the NGO Social Work Study Awards helped students to be successful in their study. Research aims: 1. Assessing the extent to which the NGO study award helps students to be successful in their study; 2. Investigating the extent to which the social work practices of recipients have improved as a result of the study award; 3. Exploring how relationships between MSD, institutions, recipients, organisations and families, whānau have contributed to positive outcomes; 4. Engage with Māori recipients employed at iwi organisations in order to gauge the positive impact theaward programme has made for them within Māori communities. Research Findings: Based upon the research aims, four key themes came out of the research that align with the research aims. These are: 1. The extent to which the NGO study award helps students to be successful in their study; 2. The extent to which the social work practices of recipients have improved as a result of the study award; 3. The relationships between MSD, institutions, recipients, organisations and families, whānau have contributed to positive outcomes; 4. The impact the award programme has made for Māori recipients employed at iwi organisations and working within Māori communities. (From the Executive summary).
