520 _aThis story is about the life of Joseph Thompson, who was arrested in 1995 on numerous charges of rape, and who is known as the South Auckland serial rapist. It is also an account of the police investigation surrounding this case, which was named Operation Park. The author wrote this story in order to reveal as much as possible about Joseph Thompson so that society could better understand him and do something about men like him. It was the hope that through having knowledge about rape and rapists, women would become more powerful. The author believes that in many respects, the account of Operation Park can be seen as a case study in management techniques, and also as a lesson in leadership and team building. In-depth interviews were conducted with the police and many other people involved in the case in constructing this story.
