520 _aFairfield Immigrant and Refugee Women's Network (FIRWN) is a coalition of NESB (Non English Speaking Background) women and workers from agencies that serve immigrant and refugee women in the western Sydney local government area of Fairfield. FIRWN carried out the Anti-Violence campaign from March 1995 to June 1996 to raise awareness among NESB communities of the inappropriateness of violence against women. The success of the campaign can be attributed to two main factors: the ethnic diversity of the Fairfield local government area and the co-operation of many network members and allies in the community.
