520 _aThe evidence base for this guide This guide originates from the Home Office sponsored Crime Reduction Programme (CRP) Violence Against Women Initiative (VAWI). In 2000, 34 multi-agency, victim-focused pilot projects were funded and independently evaluated to identify 'what works' to support survivors and tackle domestic violence and rape and sexual assault. Five domestic violence projects from the initiative were selected as case studies. This aimed to explore the issues and barriers surrounding information-sharing and to highlight existing good practice. Three Data Protection Officers were interviewed and the Information Commissioner's Office was also consulted. From Introduction.
