520 _aThis guidance is issued by the New Zealand Law Society to assist schools who are contacted by a lawyer appointed by the Family Court to represent a child or children enrolled in school. The guidance outlines the role of the Counsel for the Child (now called Lawyer for the Child) and sets out what actions and processes can be expected when a school assists the Lawyer for the Child. The guidance also outlines how and under what legislation private and state schools can disclose information about children. Appended to the guidance is the full text of the Privacy Act (1993) Section 6, Principle 11, "Limits on Disclosure of Personal Information".
