520 _aThis paper was prepared for a seminar in February 2007 at which the author presented. It discusses judicial interviewing of children and includes information on historical practice, current judicial acceptance, the general benefits of children's participation in proceedings, perceived advantages and disadvantages of a judicial conversation, and future guidelines and directions. Wide variations exist in approaches to judicial interviewing of children and it is noted that there is a need for a protocol to be set in place.
