This article discusses how the timeliness of family court proceedings can affect the child client. The author argues that the Children, Young Persons and Their Families Act (1989) does not take into account children's concepts of time and/or cultural concepts of time, but rather the Act focuses on the time frames dynamics of the justice system. The results of a survey on the experiences of Family Court workers are given within the article and recommendations for improving help for the child client are also suggested.
