This article discusses a New Zealand family violence intervention programme which implemented routine questioning of women about family violence. The short article describes how the questions have become part of nurses' regular patient assessment, and is now an accepted part of their work particularly for nurses in maternity and paediatric wards, acute assessment areas, emergency departments and mental health units.
