In 1989 and 1990 3000 Otago women were randomly chosen from the New Zealand electoral rolls and sent a questionnaire which included questions about their childhood, present family , work situation and health, and also about their experiendes of sexual and physical abuse. At the end of the questionnaire the women were asked for suggestions for reducing the incidence of sexual and physical harm to women and children. (From the document).
