Discusses a child protection model which has been used as a basis for the practice model now used by Child, Youth and Family, New Zealand. Builds on best practice and incorporates safety, risk and needs/strengths assessment systems as well as inter-agency co-operation and quality improvement measures. Establishes a unified Central Intake System for receiving, classifying and ensuring culturally appropriate responses. Aims to ensure the greatest possible safety for children reported for abuse or neglect.
