This report outlines key findings from a three-year qualitative research project which explored ways young people engage with, understand, and respond to sexual harassment social media content. Between 2019 and 2022 the researchers completed 17 focus groups and 10 in-depth media-sharing interviews with 91 young people aged between 15 and 25 of diverse genders, sexualities and cultural backgrounds. Most were high school or university students and some were employed in the workforce; we met with them in university or high school settings or, during COVID restrictions, on Zoom.
