N2  - This report is an examination of contemporary economic issues for wāhine Māori between 1990 and 2020 for the Mana Wāhine Kaupapa Inquiry (Wai 2700). The report particularly focuses on the ways the socio-economic status of wāhine Māori, including income and employment; and the
representation of wāhine Māori within the social welfare system have been affected by Crown policies,
practices, and legislation in the crucial contemporary thirty-year period between 1990 to 2020. This report considers how the socio-economic experiences of wāhine Māori are shaped by their whakapapa
connections to Papatuanuku, Ranginui, and their ancestral lands and how their ‘whai rawa’ activities and outcomes contribute to their socio-economic wellbeing.
