The report from the 51st Parliament’s Social Services Committee on the petition can be read on the Parliament website. The report did not recommend an inquiry.[1] Maggie Wilkinson and other supporter s, including Barbara Sumner and Christine Hamilton, have continued to call for an inquiry into forced adoptions. We initiated this briefing to hear evidence from these women and determine an appropriate response to their concerns. We were interested in what outcomes they hoped an inquiry into forced adoption would achieve and what has changed in regards to this issue since Maggie Wilkinson’s petition in 2016.
