The survey involved interviews with sexual violence agencies and national (or peak) bodies that are funded by the Ministry through Budget-19, as well as the Ministry’s local contract managers. This report is divided into three parts. The first part provides background information on the Budget-19 allocation and the funded specialist sexual violence services. It also discusses the method adopted for the baseline survey. The second part presents the thematic findings from the research. The third, and final, part provides some over-arching findings, explores the implications, and identifies the next steps. The term ‘sexual violence’ is used throughout this report. This is because people working within the sector, especially in Crisis Support agencies, prefer this to ‘sexual harm’. They thought the term ‘sexual harm’ minimised the experience. Background: The Budget-19 investment announced funding of $320.9 million over four years to support initiatives across ten government agencies who are working together as a Joint Venture to prevent and respond to family and sexual violence. The Ministry received $90.3 million to invest in sexual violence support services. A proportion of this funding ($1.39 million) was allocated to research and evaluation. With this funding, the Ministry’s Research and Evaluation Team (the research team), in the Strategy and Insights group, has developed the Sexual Violence Research and Evaluation Programme (the programme). This programme has been co-designed with the Sexual Violence Service Development Team (the sexual violence team), in Safe Strong Families and Communities. (From the report).
