It presents data for the 2018 calendar year along with some time series. Main topics include family harm, mental health, youth, road policing and Organised crime and gangs. There is also information on other types of crime. The publication was updated on 28 June 2019. Family harm is the first section, pages 4-7, followed by Mental health reported incidents, including suicide related incidents. Reported sexual assaults information is on pages 26 & 27. New Zealand Police reports of "family harm" are explained on page 31. New Zealand Police changed from reporting "family violence investigations” to reporting "family harm investigations” from 29 May 2018 (OIA response, 20 July 2019) so 2018 data is not comparable with previous years. Please also note our caution against inferring trends in the incidence of family violence over time (see the Clearinghouse publication New Zealand Police definitions, June 2017, online at: https://nzfvc.org.nz/nz-police-definitions). See the website for more information about this publication, and to check for updates.
