The Committee last reviewed New Zealand in 2016 and made 105 recommendations to improve the rights of children in Aotearoa. This report focuses on the steps required to enable the implementation of the Children’s Convention (described in the Children’s Convention as the General Measures of Implementation). It highlights where New Zealand is making progress and identifies areas where action is still needed. It is imperative that these “building blocks” be put in place; only then can the Children’s Convention be properly implemented. (From the document).
