Originating in New Zealand, where its processes are mandated by legislation, the FGC style of practice has been taken up in many other parts of the world. While there is extensive literature pertaining to conferencing, there is comparatively little in the way of evaluations of process and outcomes. The review of the literature presented here draws together such research and identifies where further research is warranted. While including some studies pertaining to youth offending, its focus is care and protection conferencing.
