N2  - This project was funded by the Ministry of Health and commissioned in August 2011 by Alcohol Healthwatch and Women’s Health Action to explore five questions:
1. What are the patterns of drinking among women, have these changed over time and if so how?
2. What harms result for women from their own or others’ drinking?
3. Is the impact of alcohol on women’s health, either through their own drinking or that of others, a growing problem?
4. If so, what are the major influences on women’s drinking or the harm to women from others’ drinking?
5. What is currently working for preventing or reducing harm to women from their own or other people’s alcohol consumption?
The project included a literature review of women’s alcohol consumption, influencing factors, alcohol problems for women
and interventions. It also included focus groups and key informant interviews with 41 providers of services in organisations working with women affected by alcohol. It resulted in this report and a briefing paper (see second link)
