N2  - This 2001 revised article is a guide to the recognition and management of child abuse and neglect. The article provides a brief summary of Child, Youth and Family's vision, mission, values and guiding principles, and describes how the agency organises its service delivery network. There is also a structure diagram and contact directory of Child, Youth and Family sites, located at the end of the guide.   The guide provides definitions and signs for the identification of child abuse and neglect, along with guidelines for recognition, rules of safe handling, and guiding principles. The section on reporting child abuse and neglect looks at the steps for making a notification of abuse and neglect, knowing the Child, Youth and Family processes, and understanding the privacy legislation.   There is a section on the network of agencies involved in child protection, from the Child, Youth and Family social workers, police, Child Abuse team, Doctors for Sexual Abuse Care, and health workers, to care and protection coordinators and resource panels and additional community organisations. Lastly, the guide discusses the need to work together for child protection through effective interagency case management guidelines, a multidisciplinary approach to child protection, and elements of safe practice protocols
