Input was sought from a variety of experts, including injury surveillance specialists, people with field experience in batterer intervention and victim advocacy, intimate partner violence researchers, and representatives of programmes in developing nations. The results section discusses the characteristics, development and funding of programmes, client referrals and demographics, definitions and theories on the causes of intimate partner violence, intervention topics covered, screening, victim contact, intervention goals, staff training, programme evaluation, couples counselling, the effects on staff, and intervention with boys and young men.
