The objectives of the research were: to access the incidence of adolescent females who have engaged in sexually abusive behaviour in the Canterbury Region, New Zealand; to assess the need for a specialist programme; and to elicit some of the clinical characteristics of this cohort. Approximately 400 professionals working within health, mental health, and adolescent-related services in Christchurch were sent a questionnaire with nearly 100 responding. Eight adolescent females, aged between 12 and 19 years, who were known or suspected to have engaged in sexually abusive behaviour, were identified by the professionals. Descriptive summaries of the characteristics of the young women as reported by the professionals are given. It was noted that these young women share characteristics that are consistent with those reported in international research UR - https://nzfvc.org.nz/sites/default/files/Adolescent-females-who-have-engaged-in-sexually-abusive-behaviour.pdf ER -
