The authors' aim was to establish an association between childhood sexual abuse and later incidents of deliberate self-harm in women. The study results show there is a clear statistical association between childhood sexual abuse and self-harm when the abuse is more intrusive and frequent. A correlation is also identified between self-harm and major interpersonal problems in one's family of origin, and with involvement in abusive relationships in adulthood ER -
