Changes in the research on rape and sexual victimisation are canvassed along with the implications of the feminist social science approach where poststructuralist feminism has been instrumental in challenging and changing the concept of rape. In particular, the author examines the unacknowledged rape victim, the loose distinction between rape and attempted rape, and usage of the term sexual victimisation when it is used to make reference to a broad range of normative coercive heterosexual practices
