Survey data was collected from mothers only in the early 1960s and from both mothers and fathers in the 70s, 80s and 90s. Parental training of children, discipline, and attitudes to physical punishment are discussed, as is, briefly, the law relating to child punishment. The author concludes that resources to provide education to parents on family development and child training techniques that support a non-violent approach need to be made more readily available ER -
