This study was commissioned by late 1998 to provide an enduring record of the Welfare to Well-being and Strengthening Families initiatives, so as to provide a resource for those with an interest in social policy, the implementation of strategic initiatives, and broader issues of public sector management.
From Welfare to Well-being and Strengthening Families are strategic initiatives by the Department of Social Welfare implemented over the period 1993-99. They are distinctive in a number of respects, both in terms of conceptual design, and their method of implementation. Particularly in the case of Strengthening Families, they have come to play a significant role in social policy in New Zealand. Record #9004
