The survey aimed to gather perspectives from those who identify as Māori (either sole, or as one of their ethnic identities), and had Māori ancestry, were aged 18 or over and lived in Aotearoa at the time of the survey. The survey was administered online during 2021. This section focused on lifetime experience of state neglect, failure to protect, abuse and abuse of power, racism, breaches of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, police violence, overall impact of state violence on wellbeing of Māori, and strategies to manage impact on wellbeing.
