Family violence : a background paper Alison Gray, prepared for the Family Violence Prevention Project
Material type:
There has been a great deal of discussion recently about family violence and child sexual abuse - how prevalent it is, what the effects are, and what might be done about it. Much of the discussion is confused and contradictory, partly because family violence is widely underreported ad partly because the available statistics and research use different definitions and so cannot be directly compared. This paper begins on a cautionary note - talks first about some of the problems of defining and researching different kinds of family violence. It then looks at the incidence of family violence between adults, and finally at the incidence of violence towards children, including child sexual abuse. (Author's introduction). Record #6400
