Intended to begin to illustrate the tremendous power, creativity and mobilization of advocates nationwide and also to inspire each of us to move beyond minimum standards of operation. This first installment includes a record of some advocates' discussions of social change, gender and language and analyses of violence against women. It also includes the beginning of a new section titled "Working within Our Own Communities," comprised to date of contributions from advocates in Asian and Pacific Islander, Native and older adult communities.
This work offers opportunities for reflection, critical analysis, and action by advocates seeking to shift paradigms and place policy advocacy in a social change movement. (From the Vawnet.org website). Part II focusing on Organizing and communicationsw was subsequently published in 2009 (#6395). Record #6394
