In line with both the New Zealand Disability Strategy (Minister for Disability Issues 2001) and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2006 (UNCRPD, which New Zealand ratified in 2008), the Ministry supports a culture that values and respects disabled people as full citizens of our community.
