This consultation draft has been developed through a review of existing risk frameworks and evidence on family violence screening, risk assessment, and risk management.
It focuses on intimate partner violence and its intersection with child abuse. As the framework progresses, more detailed guides for other forms of violence will be developed, for example, abuse of the elderly and the disabled.
It is important that the framework is practical and easily understood by all agencies and service providers who work with families experiencing violence. The framework is a resource to be used in a wide range of contexts; it will be supported with guidance and tools where you say this is most needed.
The framework reflects evidence about risk assessment, approaches that are working in other jurisdictions, and solutions to problems in our current family violence system. A summary of submissions and feedback from workshop consultations are also available. For more information about this initiative and the development of a final Risk Assessment and Management Framework, go to the website. Consultation closed on 16 September 2016. The reworked Framework is due in 2017. Record #5266
