The Baby Makes 3 project is an example of promising
practice in the emerging field of preventing violence
against women. It is a primary prevention program that seeks to prevent violence before it occurs, by promoting equal and respectful relationships between men and women during the transition to parenthood. Funded by VicHealth, the Baby Makes 3 project
involved a partnership between Whitehorse
Community Health Service, the lead agency, and the
City of Whitehorse Maternal Child Health Service, a
key service for engaging first time parents. A valuable
partnership was also established with Drummond
Street Services Just Families project. The impact of the Baby Makes 3 project was evaluated using a comprehensive evaluation framework consisting of a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods including questionnaires, interviews and focus groups. (from the Executive summary). This programme is included in the AIFS evidence-based programme profiles - see second link. Record #4625
