Low reporting levels of gender-based violence is an ongoing challenge for New Zealand and elsewhere. An additional concern for criminal justice policy is the growing dissatisfaction
with the experience of victims of gender-based violence in traditional adversarial court systems. This article traverses recent research and thinking in the area of gender based
violence in New Zealand and elsewhere, and discusses the current debates concerning restorative justice as a potential response to the needs of victims/survivors and the Accountability and needs of offenders. (Author's abstract)
