Background: in 2010 the Taskforce for Action on Violence within Families produced a preliminary set of family violence indicators, recognising that more work would be necessary to build on these indicators. The Families Commission agreed to lead the next phase of the development of family violence indicators for the Taskforce. In November 2012, the Commission contracted the New Zealand Family Violence Clearinghouse to lead this work, with a focus on administrative data sources from government agencies. This report describes the project, the findings and the conclusions from this piece of work. (from the Introduction).
