This research project on violence prevention programmes involved conducting 81 interviews with policy makers, programme funders, and programme coordinators. Discussions centred around current violence prevention programmes and activities, and where possible, programme content and evaluations. The aims of this project were: to identify programmes or activities that are likely to reduce and prevent violence against children occurring in the family/whanau setting, in educational settings, and in recreational settings; to identify gaps in current violence prevention programmes or activities; and to provide purchasing recommendations for the Ministry of Health in the area of preventing violence against children.
