Summary: This review focuses on the two most common types of gender-based violence: physical intimate partner violence and sexual violence against women by any perpetrator. It looks at justice, health, education and multi-sector approaches to determine which are more and less effective in preventing and responding to gender-based violence. While recognising the limited number of high quality studies on programme effectiveness, this review has attempted to highlight emerging good practices.
