This is New Zealand's sixth report on its implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (1979). It outlines the legal, structural and policy changes since the last report (2002) and covers the period March 2002 to March 2006. Information on domestic violence, including elder abuse and health screening for family violence, are covered in article 16, "Marriage and Family Life". A variety of statistics are reported on from various sources. Government and non-government interventions on eliminating family violence, which are either in place or being implemented, are discussed. There is a small section on violence against refugee and migrant women. It is posited that further progress is required in the area of violence against women.
