There are three versions of this DVD catalogued under this record - the whanau version, the "split version" and another version very similar to the split version.. See separate record for the Tane version.
Aimed at a wide audience, this DVD presents men and women from across Te Ao Maori (the Maori world) sharing their stories and knowledge to encourage thinking and action about creating whanau ora (translation: healthy families and communities). The interviewees talk about the families they grew up in, and reflect on the importance of providing constructive role models for children, and giving children a strong positive identity and self esteem. The speakers discuss the importance of showing children violence is not normal, and putting the safety of children first in situations of domestic violence. Running time approximately 12 minutes.
