The Australian Government and state and territory <br/>governments recognise that understanding and <br/>identifying coercive control is fundamental to <br/>effectively responding to family and domestic <br/>violence. To support this endeavour, the National <br/>Principles to Address Coercive Control in Family <br/>and Domestic Violence (the National Principles) <br/>set out a shared understanding about the common <br/>features and impacts of coercive control, and <br/>guiding considerations to inform responses. <br/>Consistent and clear understanding of coercive <br/>control will make it easier for governments,<br/>non-government organisations, frontline services, <br/>law enforcement, the judiciary, academic institutions, <br/>businesses, families and the community to work <br/>together to identify and address this insidious issue, <br/>support victim-survivor safety and healing, and <br/>reinforce perpetrator accountability.
