This paper seeks agreement to develop Achieving Intergenerational Change - a comprehensive, long-term, and whole-of-government approach to further reduce family violence and achieve intergenerational change. Achieving lntergenerational Change will build on current responses to family violence by strengthening the family violence system ..<br/><br/><br/>The paper also invites the Minister for Social Development to review current family violence governance arrangements in consultation with relevant agencies and non-government<br/>organisations and report back to Cabinet Social Policy Committee with a proposal in December 2014. <br/>This is one of five Cabinet papers that either address family violence or have a family violence component to be considered by the Cabinet Social Poiicy (SOC) on 18 June 2014.<br/>The other papers that are also being considered by SOC are:·<br/>• Government Response to the Report of the Expert Advisory Group on Family Violence which addresses recommendations from the Expert Advisory Group established by the Family Violence Ministerial Group in August 2013.<br/>• A Stronger Response to Domestic Violence, which proposes action areas to improve justice outcomes for victims, from the Minister of Justice.<br/>• Progressing the Sentencing (Electronic Monitoring) Amendment Bill, which discusses GPS Monitoring of violent offenders who pose a very high and serious risk to their<br/>victims, from the Minister of Corrections.<br/>• Whole-of-Government Action Plan to Reduce the Harms caused by New Zealand Adult Gangs and International Crime Groups, from the Minister of Police (not released).<br/><br/>This paper includes: <br/>Appendix One: Proposed 2014/15 cross-agency work programme to strengthen the family violence system. <br/>Appendix Two: Total Government contracted (NGO) spend on family violence (2012/2013).<br/><br/>See News item for a summary of the content and background and links to all the released papers. |
