520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc This article presents the findings from a study that investigated the association between childhood abuse experiences and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms for women survivors of childhood sexual abuse. The methodology involved asking 73 women who attended a Family Health Counselling Service's Sexual Abuse programme if they would like to participate in a study examining the effects of counselling victims of sexual abuse. A self-report questionnaire on PTSD symptoms and interviews on childhood abuse experience were given to the participants. The findings show that there is a link between childhood sexual abuse and PTSD. Many of the women in the study showed current symptoms of PTSD; there was a correlation between the severity of PTSD symptoms and the extent of general psychopathology. Of particular importance to the authors was the finding that the severity of PTSD symptoms was associated with the extent of child sexual abuse involving actual sexual intercourse.
