This study involvesa systematic analysis of 110 police files resulting from reported sexual violation offences for three months of the calendar year of 2015, drawn from five selected Police Districts. The analysis was designed to replicate an earlier analysis of police rape files from 1997 (Jordan, 2004). File data were retrieved and reviewed in 2017. Thethreekey questions guiding this research were: (i) What factors are associated with the progression of sexual violation cases through police investigation process? (ii) What factors are identifiable from police sexual violation files as influential in the decision to proceed, or not to proceed, to further investigation? (iii) How do these findings compare with those evident in the 1997 study of police sexual violation files? (From the document). Record #7251
