This is a sexuality education programme for Years 8 & 9 children /young people attending Kura Kaupapa Māori. It is written entirely in te reo Māori.
Te Ira Tangata programme for years 9 and 10 explores ngā haepapa a te taiohi and ngā piringa whaimana was launched in 2020.
The Ira Tangata programme for years 7 & 8 is also available.
Both programmes are written completely in te reo Māori and primarily use Māori contexts, concepts, and knowledge.
These programmes were developed in partnership with several Kura Kaupapa Māori without whom the Te Ira Tangata programmes would not have been possible. Over a period of 18 months to 2 years, Te Whāriki Takapou worked alongside teachers, whānau, and Māori community experts to design, teach and evaluate these programmes before their public release.
