This report highlights the progress Oranga Tamariki is making to improve outcomes for tamariki Māori, their whānau, hapū and iwi. On 1 July 2019, over 100 new amendments to the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989 came into force.

One of these amendments was the inclusion of a new section 7AA entitled ‘the duties of the chief executive in relation to the Treaty of Waitangi (Tiriti o Waitangi)’.

Section 7AA requires the chief executive of Oranga Tamariki to report to the public at least annually on the progress being made to improve outcomes for tamariki Māori and their whānau.
